Put your hands in the dough! This could be the title of this extraordinary experience you can do in Matera!
In fact, you will be able to see, learn and literally do your bread at an old bakery, run by the fourth generation of bakers. But it is only the first step of our food tour in Matera. We think that you can’t really know a place without enjoying its smells and flavors. That’s why we organize this food tour with 3 different stops:
- at the bakery you will do your own bread and later will taste some local specialties (several salty and sweet baked products) while drinking a glass of the finest local wines (in particular the “Primitivo” DOC);
- you will visit a cheese factory which still produces typical dairy products using traditional techniques. You will also taste some of them;
- one of the most famous products fo this area is the olive oil, so you can’t miss to visit the MooM, the Matera oil of olive Museum! It is housed in a large hypogeum dating back to the XVth century. The visit will allow you to learn how they produced oil in the ancient times and the whole present system, from the stone mills to the wells for decanting and storage. You will also taste the authentic olive oil produced by the local oil mill.
You will enjoy a 3 hours tour with one of our professional, local guides and will also discover the landscape and the surroundings of Matera. In fact you will also be accompanied by our selected private car during your trip to be sure to visit all the places mentioned in the program, located in the beautiful country around Matera.
