Visit the famous Pinacoteca di Brera with a professional guide majored in History of Art. The collection of the most important museum of Milan includes a rich collection of Italian art crossing every age, starting from the late Middle Ages ending with the 19th century.
Our tour starts with the typical Christian polyptychs with gold ground in late gothic style and continues with the different art schools of Italian Renaissance. The exhibition includes great masters like Giovanni Bellini, Andrea Mantegna, Raphael, Donato Bramante, but also talented and unconventional artists like Carlo Crivelli and the Marche area school.
The travel through time continues with the great master of the 17
th century, Caravaggio, whose Supper in Emmaus is a masterpiece. The Flemish art is also represented, do not miss the huge Last Supper by Pieter Paul Rubens.
The 18
th century rooms propose a collection of Venetian art with paintings by Canaletto and Tiepolo, before ending the visit with the Italian Risorgimento art from the 19th century, including portaits by Francesco Hayez and his masterpiece The kiss.
Leaving the museum, you will descend the elegant stairway and arrive in the 17
th century cloister designed by the architect Francesco Maria Richini; in the middle, a bronze copy of the sculpture Napoleon Bonaparte as pacifier Mars by Antonio Canova.
In the second part of the visit, your guide will show you the secrets of Brera district, nowadays lively and charming center of fashion and design, plenty of restaurants and cafés. Once, however, the district was a very different area: bohémien, meeting point for artists and the students of the Academy of Art, but also red light district. Strolling along the narrow pedestrian streets, you will see how this small district was revitalized, becoming one of the most beloved areas in town.
